LYNX - Lions Network Youth Xpress

Assisting and empowering young people by introducing positive changes through networks, resources and peer support.

WHAT IS LYNX?

LYNX is a new initiative set up through the Lions Clubs of Tasmania. LYNX has been developed to assist and empower young Tasmanians to introduce positive changes in their lives. The program allows young people the opportunity to share their stories, meet other young people in similar situations and to work together to build positive changes in their lives with access to networks, resources and peer support.

WHO CAN LYNX HELP?

LYNX is aimed at young people aged between 14 and 20 who are keen to make positive changes in their lives.

WHAT DOES LYNX DO?

LYNX explores issues associated with Trust, Self Esteem, Drug and Alcohol, Parent/Adolescent Relationships, Assault/Abuse and Grief. These issues are explored over 4 day-long workshops with the opportunity for a “Reconnect Weekend” camp at the end of the year.

HOW DOES LYNX WORK?

Workshops are run by Youth Leaders with guidance and support from Support Adults with varying levels of experience in the issues being explored. Young people that attend the workshops are supported by a Support Adult who will accompany them to the workshops and provide after-support by making appropriate referrals on a needs basis. There is an allocation of one Support Adult to every 1-3 participants. Any referrals made without accompanying Support Adults may be able to be linked in with existing Support Adults from the same region.

WHEN ARE THE WORKSHOPS?

Contact us for details

Most workshops will be held in Launceston (location to be advised)

Support Adults will transport participants to and from the workshop. Participants will need to commit to attending all four workshops.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND? SO WHO IS PAYING FOR IT?

At this point in time there is no cost associated with young people attending these workshops thanks to donations made by Tasmanian Lions Clubs.
